My name is Kate Anderson. I have the two best jobs in the world. I am a teacher and a mommy! I have been teaching for thirteen years. Eleven of those years have been in first grade with eight at Concrete Primary. I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I have a bachelor's degree in early childhood and elementary education from Augustana College and a master's degree in classroom leadership from Southern Wesleyan University. I am also a Master Teacher in the Teacher Residency program at Clemson University.
I live in Powdersville with my husband (Michael) and daughters (Ellie and Charlee). Over the summer, our sweet 11 1/2-year-old hound dog, Jethro, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We just welcomed a basset hound puppy into our family. Her name is Ladybug. When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family taking hikes, swimming at the Y, gardening, or enjoying the beach.
I am very excited to announce that I have a co-teacher this year named Mrs. Maag!
Mrs. Shelby Maag is a recent graduate from Clemson University where she received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Go Tigers! She is continuing on for one more year through Clemson's Teacher Residency program where she will receive her master's degree in May 2021. She recently got married to her wonderful husband, Zach! They live together in Simpsonville and are enjoying life as newlyweds. In her free time, Mrs. Maag enjoys going to Clemson football games, hanging out at the beach, spending time with her family and friends, and shopping around town. She is thrilled to be working alongside Mrs. Anderson this school year! It is going to be a year full of fun, laughter, and lots of learning.
Our theme in Room 208 this year is "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Mrs. Maag and I are very excited to teach your child this year. We promise to make the very best of this situation. We want school to be an enjoyable place for us all!
