    Summer Reading for ALL English Students (except AP Language and AP Literature)
    Students are required to choose a book of at least 100 pages to read this summer. The book can be any work of fiction not previously assigned in an English class (including Elementary and Middle School class books), as long as it is school appropriate. Teachers will give assessments on the books within the first two weeks of school. Summer Reading will count towards at least one major grade on the first nine weeks report card. Questions can be directed to any English teacher or the School Librarian, Jen Chesney.

    English II CP – see above
    English III CP – see above
    English IV CP – see above

     

    English III Honors – Read a books of choice (see above) plus read A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Students should annotate the novel by Knowles and be prepared for a test or essay assignment within the first week of school.

    English IV Honors – Read a book of choice (see above) plus read Lord of the Flies by William Golding 

    Honors Advanced Composition
    Read a book of choice (see above) plus students need to read Thank You for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs and complete a reading guide

    AP Language
    Read all of the following novels:

    A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson
    Thank You for Arguing by Jay Heinrichs

    AP Literature
    Read all of the following novels:
    Frankenstein by Mary Shelley 
    The Road by Cormac McCarthy
    How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas C. Foster
    Additional handouts and assignments for each are found on Dr. Rosenberg's Website and should be completed by the start of school.
