Welcome to the school library! This is my third year at Powdersville Middle School as the librarian after teaching high school English for seven years. I have a Bachelor's degree in English from the Furman University as well as Masters' degrees in Literacy from Furman University and Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. It is a privilege to work with the students at our school, and to assist them with finding exactly the right book, to teach them to conduct research, and to help them to build information literacy skills.
As school librarian, it is my goal to work hand-in-hand with all of our faculty to ensure that Powdersville Middle School students have the resources and skills they need to conduct research, create projects using technology, and be responsible library users. The standards I use to guide my practice are American Association of School Librarian's National School Library Standards. You can read more about those standards here.
You can find more information about the library by clicking on Media Center on our school home page.
As I plan programs for the Powdersville Middle School library, I strive to provide an inviting media center that is conducive to research, study, and independent use by all of our students. It is my hope that the school library will be your first source for reading materials, audiovisual materials, information resources, and instruction for using technology.
As the school iPad expert, I'm the first person to contact if you or your child have questions about a device or if you need to report a damaged, lost, or stolen iPad.
Please contact me via email if you have any questions, or if I can help your child in any way.
