Hello!
My name is Kelsey Smith and I am beyond excited to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher at Wren Elementary this upcoming school year!
A little bit about myself… I have been a Type 1 Diabetic for 23 years of my life & it is something that I am very passionate about. I am a HUGE Clemson Tiger fan – I enjoy going to every football game, away and home throughout the football season. I love spending time with my friends and family, going to the beach and the lake, taking long walks, and meeting new people.
My educational and job background… I am a product of the Wren area schools. I went through Wren Elementary, middle, and high school and graduated in 2014. After graduating high school, I went to Clemson University and graduated from there in 2018 with my bachelors degree in Sociology. I immediately started working at Palmetto Elementary starting in the 2018-2019 school year as the computer lab manager. I stayed at Palmetto for three years. While I was working at Palmetto, I was able to start my schooling to receive my initial teaching license plus my Masters in Early Childhood Education. When my time at Palmetto was completed, I student taught at Wren Elementary in Kindergarten and 2nd grade. After I graduated in December, I was offered a job as a K3/K4 teacher at Hunt Meadows elementary school from January until the end of this past school year. I loved being in pre-school, but I know that my heart is in Kindergarten here at Wren.
My number one goal in my classroom is to make sure that all my students feel supported, loved, and fought for everyday of the school year. When students feel that way consistently, that is when growth will happen. I’m very excited to start this journey with you and your child.
