My name is Kathy Elrod.  I am a graduate of Wren High School and Winthrop University.  My Winthrop degree is a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.  My Master's Degree is from Southern Wesleyan University.  This is my 13th year at Spearman Elementary.  I taught First Grade for five years.  This is my eighth year teaching Reading to students in K5, First and Second Grade.  I am married to Randy, and we have been blessed with two children.  Our daughter, Jennifer, graduated from Clemson University, and she is a cardiac charge nurse at St. Francis Hospital downtown.  She just completed her Master's in Nursing Administration at Clemson on August 11, 2017 (we are SO PROUD)! Our son, Brent, who was a Junior at North Greenville University and majoring in Christian Studies, died in a hiking accident, at the age of 20, on October 10, 2013.
We attend Mt. Airy Baptist Church, where I am involved in various mission opportunities. I coordinate our Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Project each year at our church; these boxes are sent to children all over the world.  I also coordinate our homeless ministry at SHINE in Easley.
I have three cats, Tanner, Smoky, and Theodore.  I have two dogs named Watson and Father Abraham. . My hobbies are photography and writing. My favorite places are the mountains and the beach.  My favorite things are spending time with family and friends, my church, shopping, traveling, chocolate, Clemson football and basketball, North Greenville football, tailgating, Camp Marietta, movies, and sleeping late on Saturdays!  My favorite color is Royal Blue. My favorite foods are steak, seafood, and Oriental food. My favorite restaurants are Outback, Red Lobster, and Oriental House.  I love Cardinals, rainbows, sunrises, sunsets, crosses, and owls!  I collect Cardinals and Santa Clauses.
We are HUGE Clemson fans! GO TIGERS!!
