Wren Middle School Student, Reese Lesley, Designs Anderson One 2021 District Christmas Card

Reese Lesley is a sixth-grader at Wren Middle and was awarded first place with her art submission for the 2021 district Christmas card contest.  Reese submitted the winning artwork and was presented with a gift of art supplies by Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Jeff Wilson. Her artwork is printed on the district Christmas card and is also currently displayed on the district webpage with all the other student entries from each middle in Anderson School District One.

Reese shared with us that she has been doing art since she could pick up a marker, pencil or crayon.  She loves to use acrylic and watercolor on canvas.  Her inspiration for her design came from her love of animals.  She said, “I love to paint animals because you can make them look however you want and you can express so many emotions from them in their eyes. I thought a reindeer would be very festive with a wreath”. Reese loves painting and hopes to get better at it in the future.

Reese is the daughter of Jason and Sandy Lesley.

Haley Nichols, art teacher at Palmetto Middle said,  “It is such a delight to teach such a sweet student and gifted artist as Reese. The dedication and standards she holds to the quality of her work is far beyond her years. I can't wait to see what Reese does in the future with this amazing talent and work ethic.”

Dr. Wilson stated, “This annual event for the district gives us an opportunity to showcase some of our best student talent. Reese is a wonderful artist and I am excited that we can share her talent with everyone. The Christmas card contest has become a popular competition that rotates between the elementary, middle and high schools for Anderson School District One.
