Natalie Gilmore is an 11th grader at Wren High School and was awarded first place with her art submission for the 2022 district Christmas card contest. Natalie submitted the winning artwork and was presented with a gift by Dr. Chris Ferguson, Director of Secondary Education. Her artwork was printed on the district Christmas card and was also displayed on the district webpage with all the other student entries from high schools in Anderson School District One.
Haley Nichols, art teacher at Wren High said, "Wren High School is wonderfully lucky to have an incredibly talented pool of artists who bring so many perspicacious ideas to a competition like this. As an art teacher, I enjoy the fact that our artists have an opportunity to not only participate in the celebration of the holiday season but also to share their work with those in our District who support and encourage their talents."
Natalie shared “"I was really surprised and confused at first [about winning]. A week or two before I found out that I won, a lot of teachers were congratulating me on my card and I honestly had no idea what they were talking about. My art teacher wanted to keep it a surprise and I was surprised that I won but I'm very happy and thankful that I did."
Dr. Chris Ferguson, Public Information Director, said, “This annual event for the district gives us an opportunity to showcase some of our best student talent. Natalie is a wonderful artist and I am excited that we can share her talent with everyone. The Christmas card contest has become a popular competition that rotates between the elementary, middle and high schools for Anderson School District One.
