American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act Stakeholder Input

American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act

July 29, 2021

On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) was signed into law. This plan allows for the US Department of Education to distribute additional funds to the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III Fund). South Carolina will receive just over 2 billion dollars in ESSER III Funds from the Act. The purpose of these funds is to provide local education agencies (LEAs) with emergency relief funds to address the impact that COVID-19 has had, and continues to have, on elementary and secondary schools. These funds will provide support to our schools over the next three years.

Anderson School District 1 will receive $12.2 million dollars from the Act. At least 20% of funds must address learning loss. An ESSER III spending plan must be submitted to the state department for approval that includes allowable expenditures in 15 areas or “buckets.”  For more information on the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act please click here

  • Class size reduction teachers
  • Intervention services
  • Special Education positions
  • Summer School Programs
  • After School Programs
  • Supplies and Equipment
