"The mission of the Powdersville Middle School Athletics Department is to install a desire in our student athletes to practice excellence in every area of their lives by establishing positive values in their lives as committed members of a team."
Excerpt from Powdersville Middle School Handbook
"The sports program at Powdersville Middle School consists of “C” team football, cheer, basketball, and girls’ volleyball. Seventh and eighth grade students may try out for football and volleyball in August as well as for boys’ and girls’ basketball later in the fall. Seventh and eighth grade students may also try out for non-contact sports at the high school level which include baseball, competitive cheer, cross country, dance, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, and wrestling. Completed physical examination forms, parents’ permission forms, and athletic insurance premiums must be submitted prior to the students’ participation in regular season play. All students trying out for any sport must be in good standing at school with passing grades in academic subjects and good conduct."
The South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) governs athletic competitions in our state. Eligibility requirements to participate in middle school sports are:
Live in our school's attendance area
Have academically passed the previous grade
Supply the Athletic Director with a copy of your birth certificate showing that you do not turn 15 before July 1
Turn in the passed pre-participation physical Physical Form
Pay for athletic insurance
Athletic insurance is required by the SCHSL for all athletes on member school teams competing in interscholastic sports across the state. We charge $35.00 per student.
Birth certificates, physical forms, and insurance payments must be completed and returned to the school's Athletic Director at least three weeks before competition begins. They are not required before the student can try-out for a sport, but must be done immediately after making the team. Student athletes will not be allowed to practice without these forms.
The Powdersville High School Athletic Booster Club also supports middle school sports. Please consider joining our Booster Club! Click the links below for more information including how your business can support Powdersville Middle School sports.
