eLearning Day on Friday, September 27
Anderson One Families, Out of an abundance of caution, Anderson School District One will have an eLearning Day on Friday, September 27 due to severe weather anticipated from Hurricane Helene. We plan to be on a regular schedule on Thursday, September 26, but Anderson One will be canceling any after-school activities on Thursday after 6:00 pm. At this time, we still plan to have after-school programs at our elementary schools and after-school tutoring at our high schools, but we will continue to monitor the weather throughout the day tomorrow. The National Weather Service is predicting several inches of rain and extremely high winds for our area. There is also a chance of severe weather Thursday evening through late Friday morning. Guidance from the South Carolina Department of Education states that school buses should not be in operation when sustained winds exceed 30mph or wind gusts exceed 40mph. Due to the wind speeds currently projected, it would be unsafe for buses to operate on the roads. Administrators will closely monitor the weather on Friday to make the best decision regarding extracurricular activities scheduled for Friday evening and this weekend. These decisions will be made based upon several factors including the weather forecast, road conditions, and our ability to safely carry out the activity in the event of a power outage or other potential obstacles. The appropriate school personnel will do their best to communicate our plans promptly. Please check your school’s social media for more information about these specific events. I hope you all stay safe during this weather event! Please see the guidelines below for the Anderson School District One Learning Days. The following guidelines are in place to complete eLearning lessons: Elementary School: Assignments will be posted in Seesaw, and students have 5 school days to complete work. Middle/High School: Assignments will be posted in Google Classroom, and students have 5 school days to complete work. Teachers will have the following office hours: 9:00-10:30 and 1:30-3:00. During this time, teachers will be available to answer questions via Seesaw messenger or email. Sincerely, Dr. Seth Young Superintendent for Anderson One

Last week, Palmetto Elementary wrapped up their fundraising efforts for the school’s future therapy dog with an incredible celebration! Over the course of the week, students worked hard fundraising in hopes of raising enough money to provide Maverick with the necessary training. On Friday, all students and faculty were invited to attend a celebration and presentation of Maverick in the school gymnasium. During the celebration, Palmetto Business Association presented a $500 donation for Maverick In addition, the grand total of $2,807 from their fundraising efforts was announced! Thank you so much to those who sent in donations or donated through the go fund me page! Special thanks to Palmetto Business Association and All About Fabrics for their donations and to Ace Hardware Williamston for their commitment to donate!

Mrs. Allen’s class collected donations for PAWS Animal Shelter! 🥰 They will be donating everything this upcoming week. Here’s some pictures of her students with the donations and a letter a student helped make by using the switch-activated scissors to cut out symbols. 🐶 🐱
