The Powdersville Patriots Boys Soccer team defeated Oceanside Collegiate Academy 1-0 on Friday, May 23 at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, SC after Ethan Piel scored the match's one and only goal. This is the team's 1st State Championship! Prior to this victory, the Patriots had made it to Upper State three times only to come up just short each of those times. Under Coach Jeremy McCall, the boys set their goal to go 1-0 in each post-season play-off match until fulfilling that goal with the 1-0 State win. Note, most of the players also bleached their hair blonde for superstitious purposes - and, hey, they got the win! Special shout-out to the following players for being named to All-Region: Cooper McCall, Didier Pineda, Jed Turner, and Jud Scrivner. Brody Pike was named both an All-State and All-Region Player of the Year for the 2nd year straight! Didier Pineda and Jud Scrivner were also named as All-State players. Congratulations to all!!
