4th Grade Field Trip Group

Our 4th grade classes visited Charleston, SC for our first overnight field trip since 2019! We had a wonderful time, and our students and teachers made many fun, educational memories. While in Charleston, students were able to tour Fort Sumter, Fort Moultrie, and Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, visit the SC Aquarium, and shop downtown at the famous Charleston Market.

Students were able to see firsthand what they have learned about during the American Revolution and Civil War units of study. At Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie, we were able to walk the grounds, visit the beach on Sullivan’s Island, and listen to historians share insight about the weapons, fort structure, tunnels, and each fort’s history.

At Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, students went on a nature train, touring the hundreds of acres that were once filled with rice crops and slave quarters. Students saw a glimpse at what life was like, while also navigating the wildlife that lives on the property. We even spotted multiple alligators in the rivers and marsh areas throughout the plantation! Students were also able to walk through the gardens, visit a petting zoo, and explore the river trails at Magnolia.

We were also able to visit the SC Aquarium, where students encountered hands-on experiences with different animals to support our science units.  Our students represented our school very well and showed their PVES pride in all areas. We are blessed with amazing parents at Powdersville. They did a great job chaperoning the trip and were extremely helpful, flexible, and interactive throughout our time together. We would not have been able to do this trip without them!
