Not all heroes wear capes
Between preparing delicious food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Anderson School District One nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, we will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 5.

May is recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month. This year, NAMI is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with the More Than Enough campaign!
It’s an opportunity for all of us to come together and remember the inherent value we each hold — no matter our diagnosis, appearance, socioeconomic status, background or ability. We want every person out there to know that if all you did was wake up today, that’s more than enough. No matter what, you are inherently worthy of more than enough life, love and healing. Showing up, just as you are, for yourself and the people around you is more than enough.
#morethanenough

May 1 has been designated as National Principal Day. Anderson School District One is blessed to have the best of the best leaders for our schools. Each administrator goes above and beyond to support their faculty, staff, students, and district office. There is no task too large or small for them and they lead by example. Today and every day, we want to share our appreciation for our esteemed administrative educators.

Recently, teams comprised of fourth and fifth-grade students from seven elementary schools in ASD1 participated in the "Battle of the Books" competition at Spearman Elementary School. Teams answered questions related to South Carolina Children's Book Award Nominees. The team from Powdersville Elementary School, The Seekers of the Hidden Libraries, won this district competition. We are proud of all the students who participated and grateful for our hard-working media specialists for their continued support of literacy in our schools. #A1Excellence
