One of the best parts of Senior Celebration Day is Senior Signing, where students "sign" for the school, job, or military branch they will be attending/serving after graduation. To check out all the photos of those signings, visit us on Instagram @Powdersvillehs

Each year, Johnny Harvin State Farm sponsors two special awards for our school, the Patriot Compassion Award and Patriot Integrity Award. The recipients must be graduating Seniors who best exemplify these traits as witnessed by and voted on by their teachers. Each recipient will also receive a $1,000 scholarship from Johnny Harvin State Farm. Compassion is described as “not only feeling another’s pain but also being moved to help relieve it.” This year’s recipient of the Patriot Compassion Award is Celeste Benitez.

As a high school, our goal has always been and will continue to be to prepare students to be college and/or career ready upon graduation. Thanks to Michelin, we have two students ready for their careers! Leyton Hullett and Travis Cain have each signed contracts with Michelin Prime after completing Michelin’s Production Youth Apprenticeship Program. We thank Michelin and graduation coach, Sean McNinney, for guiding these boys and are excited to see what the future holds for them there!

Thanks so much to all who came out last night for our red carpet event celebrating the release of this year’s literary magazine, The Ville, with its theme, “The Unknown.” Mrs. Foster, the Creative Writing and Ville teacher sponsor, along with her stellar staff and student contributors have created a beautiful issue highlighting student writing, art, and photography. Students published in this year’s edition were invited to read aloud their selection in front of staff, family, and friends. So proud of all these students! If you’re interested in purchasing your own copy, see Mrs. Foster (cost $25).

It’s been a banner year for Induction/First Year teachers at PVHS! Knowledgeable, enthusiastic, caring - we couldn’t have been blessed with a better group of individuals (with a terrific group of teacher mentors to guide them). Congratulations Mr. Carter (mentor, Dr. Rosenberg), Ms. Tenry (mentor, Mrs. Sanders), Ms. Lundgren (mentor, Mrs. Foster), and Ms. Land (mentor, Ms. Scales) for your successful first year as part of our Patriot family.
