PVMS FAMILY: THIS THURSDAY IS FOR MRS. YOUNG! 💖🏈
This Thursday, October 8, Powdersville Middle School is coming together for a very special cause. Our football game is a Pink Out Night as we honor everyone who has battled or is currently battling breast cancer—including our very own beloved 8th-grade math teacher, Mrs. Danielle Young!
We have two amazing ways you can show your support on campus this Thursday:
👚 Pink Out: Wear your favorite pink gear to school and to the game!
🎩 Hat Day: Bring $1 to wear a hat during the school day.
100% of the Hat Day proceeds will go directly to Mrs. Young to help support her as she continues her brave battle. Whether you wear a hat, rock your pink, or simply donate, every little bit helps support a vital member of our PVMS Family.
⛳️ Want to do even more? You can also support Mrs. Young by participating in her upcoming Golf Tournament! Check out the flyer below for all the details.
📸 Pictured here: The Patriot Media Staff, who chose to leave their traditional Patriot colors behind this week and wear pink to show their absolute love and support for Mrs. Young!

🧪⚡ Science in action! ⚡🧪 All of our 7th grade science classes came together today for a hands-on demonstration exploring the amazing ways energy can move through the human body! Using an Energy Stick, students discovered how the metals and electrolytes in our bodies help conduct electricity and allow energy to flow. When the circuit was completed, the Energy Stick lit up—making the science visible right before their eyes! 💡🙌 What a great way to bring our learning to life and show that science is happening inside us every day! 🔬⚡ #PVMS #7thGradeScience #ScienceInAction #HandsOnLearning #Energy #LearningTogether

Our 6th grade scientists put their curiosity to work today with a Penny Lab. Before touching a dropper, students first brainstormed testable questions  and worked with their groups to develop a hypothesis. Then came the fun part—testing their predictions!  Students used droppers to carefully add each type of water to a penny, observed what happened, and worked together to collect evidence. From asking questions and making predictions to conducting an investigation and analyzing results, our students were doing exactly what scientists do: wonder, hypothesize, test, and learn from the evidence. Who knew one little penny could hold so much science?

🩺🚨 GRIT Grammar ER was open for business today in Dr. Huff's Room! Our English I students brought their writing to the Grammar ER today—but these weren’t just any “patients.” The patients were their own sentences from their most recent essays! 📝 Students examined each sentence, diagnosed the problem using our Grammar ER Diagnosis Codes, and then performed the necessary “surgery” to resuscitate their writing. 🩹✂️ From Fragment Syndrome and Run-On Disorder to Comma Splice Condition and Awkward Structure Syndrome, students had to figure out what was wrong, why it was wrong, and how to fix it. The goal? Not just to find mistakes, but to become better editors of their own writing. Because when students can diagnose the problem, explain the problem, and revise the problem… they’re not just fixing sentences—they’re becoming stronger writers. ❤️‍🩹📝
